A Message from your Commander​

In February 2023, I became Post 1's Commander by default. In May 2023, I was elected as your Commander and became responsible for the nonprofit management (both fiscally and operationally) of Post 1's building & property. My priority was to continue providing a facility available and "Open" for the benefit of our 1,950+ members. Unpopular changes had to be made due to the lack of funds, lack of a steady revenue, and our inadequate Pandemic Recovery. With the exception of the unexpected 17-days shutdown in April 2023, our building has remained "Open" 6 days a week with Chappie's Lounge "Open" 5 days a week. Mission accomplished.

On May 9th of this year, a new Commander, new Post 1 Executive Officers & new Trustees will be elected. A new Post 1 Building management team will be tasked to keep the building "Open:" pay the bills; maintain & repair; stock & supply; and keep our members, tenants & customers "happy."

If you have any skills to assist our next Commander, kindly volunteer. Craftsmen, clerical, professional, activities-gurus, fundraisers, cooks, greeters...please volunteer. Thank You

We are WA AMVETS Post #1 Strong!

Elections are on May 9th We need members to step up to the following AMVETS positions: AMVETS Post 1 Commander, 1st Vice Commander, 2nd Vice Commander, 3rd Vice Commander, Finance Officer, Judge Advocate, Provost Marshall, and Trustee positions 1, 5 & 6.

With Glenn Skinner retiring from his position as Adjutant we need a member who wants to take over this position. You will have big shoes to fill—but you can do it! Please let the Commander or the Adjutant know—or just talk to Glenn to see if you would like to take the position.

Come and join us for the next Post meeting on Thurs. May 9th at 6PM for Post Elections and the Post Trustee meeting on Thurs. May 16th at 6PM.
