The food is excellent, full stop. Portion sizes are generous and it would be hard to find better clam chowder. I'm not exaggerating, try the clam chowder. I wasn't going to get fish and chips, I thought I'd try something else, but they have cod and halibut, that should clue you in that it's not Red Robin. I got the cod and I do not regret it one bit. Plus I was stuffed afterward. The other things people ordered looked great as well. You're safe ordering land animals at a seafood restaurant here!
The service is good, attentive but not obtrusive.
The ambiance. It's not bad, but it's forgettable. It's like you took a 70's used car dealership, renovated it into a butcher shop, then renovated that into a fish market, then you added a seafood restaurant by buying the furniture from a bankrupt steak house. But it's clean and feels comfortable. It's the kind of place you like to go to regularly and I have no doubt they'd quickly learn your name. NORM!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Mar 17, 2017Previous reviewThis is excellent fish and by far the best clam chowder I've had in decades. The clam chowder presentation, wow! One clam right on top!
I went conservative and got the Pacific Cod fish and chips. The fries weren't anything to rave about, eh what can you do with fries? The fish on the other hand was fresh and really thick. 5% batter and 95% fish, not the typical 40-50% batter you get in to many restaurants.
The other plates were all said to be excellent. That was clear when one in our group had the deer in the headlights look when we looked over as she was gnawing on the final small pieces of crab leg. I should have had my phone ready for that!
Great place for lunch! Or buy some fresh seafood to make at home! You won't regret it. - Ashley S.Olympia, WA752154Feb 24, 2024
We ate lunch here today. Ordered Halibut fish and chips, crab mac and cheese, two oyster shooters, and a drink. The fish and chips were awesome, the fries were large, thick, and well seasoned. The drink we had (unsure of the name) was also excellent. Waitress told us the oysters were smaller in size.. the ones we received were definitely not. Not a huge deal, but still a bit misleading.
Then things sort of took a turn with the mac and cheese. For reference, I have never in my life sent food back to the kitchen because I did not like it. I am not a picky eater and enjoy most foods. That streak was broken with this Mac and cheese. For starters there was barely any crab present at all. The noodles were severely overcooked and gummy in texture, and the sauce had an off taste, almost kind of smoky but not in a pleasant way. For the first time, I sent something back to the kitchen because I couldn't bring myself to eat it. I felt terrible and our waitress was super kind, even offering to get me something else and reassuring me, so I ordered the fish tacos instead.
To be honest, the fish tacos weren't very good either.. it was a large piece of fish perfectly cooked, but the dish was seriously lacking in flavor. I was bummed! All the food looks great, but it's almost as if the kitchen isn't tasting it.
We are big foodies and are rarely ever disappointed. Sad to say we won't be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris S.Portland, OR2471Feb 24, 2024
I've been to this restaurant probably 8 times and sat inside when it's cold and outside during the few warmer months. People are always good and the food has been more than good. Especially anything fish or calamari not so much the lobster roll.
Last time they were very understaffed so I'm taking a time out until they get it together!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Debra C.Yakima, WA202311Apr 25, 2024
The food and service by Char , was great! We arrived 5/24/24 at noon.
I had the crab Mac and cheese. It was delicious and creamy, one of my favorites. I also had the clam chowder and it was very flavorful! It was creamy , with chunks of potatoes and clams. It was very tasty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14485Feb 22, 2024
I came here for my birthday which is the day before Valentine's Day so I was slightly surprised it wasn't busier. Right away we were greeted and seated and waited on. We were told all the specials our waiter recommended things on the menu. I've always been weary of seafood restaurants since the fishy smell kind of turns me off but I'm glad we came!
I ordered the blackened salmon which came with mashed potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese. 10/10. The potatoes DONT taste like they were powdered but instead like they actually prepared them from potatoes. And the lobster Mac was slightly sweet and creamy and delicious! I also ordered the chocolate cake to go and it took me 3 days to finish. Love this place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Monica B.Las Vegas, NV011May 9, 2024
Service and food were great. It's a little loud because people are having fun. Not a problem for me, but if you're looking for quiet - this would a not it. Very fun vibe though.
Food was delicious & fresh.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 4, 20241 check-in
I had really high hopes for this place based on their great reviews and the fact that this is a seafood restaurant. However, I was very disappointed in what I was given as my to go order. I got the fish and chips (4 pc cod) and bowl of clam chowder for take out. When I got home and opened my box of the fish and chips, I noticed that the fries and fish were very greasy and oily. There was a pool of oil at the bottom of my box. My fries were kind of stale and some of the pieces were questionable. It felt like my order has either been someone else's order and they just refried everything, or it's old. It you look at the pic, some of my fries are odd colors. Also, the fish were over fried. One of the piece of my fish was missing half the batter on the bottom side that wasn't facing up which is also questionable.... The slaw was mediocre, I didn't taste any jalepeno flavor. I think the only thing I was able to enjoy was their clam chowder. That was the only thing that tasted fresh.

This place has really good Lobster Mac and cheese, very rich and did I say it was very cheesey?
It is on the expensive side, so unless you want fish tacos, be prepared.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2023
Fresh seafood, great service. We sat outside on a bright, cloudy day. One of our party is gluten-free, and server was very attentive with helping her choose the right item, and even went to the kitchen to double-check. It turns out, Northwest Seafood Stew is gluten-free.
My lobster roll with tempura green beans (+$3) was delicious. There were large chunks of lobster in a creamy sauce, but the sandwich is a bit salty for me. My friend also enjoyed the taste and portion size of the seafood nachos.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Juli S.Boise, ID873945861Feb 21, 2024
In 2006, The Fish Peddler in Tacoma, Washington joined the Pacific Seafood family. Pacific Seafood is a seafood company that began in 1941 as a retail store on Powell Blvd. in Portland, Oregon. Today, they have over 3000 employees across 40 facilities, in 3 countries. They are headquartered in Clackamas, Oregon. Partnering with businesses like The Fish Peddler is a great way to showcase their goods.
I visited The Fish Peddler after reading an article by esteemed food writer Sue Kidd about the best Lobster Rolls in Pierce County, WA. There were at least 4 different businesses serving them. Sue said the best were at The Fish Peddler, so that's where I went!
Sue was right! The Fish Peddler's Lobster Roll is EXCELLENT! I'd go so far as to say it's the best lobster roll I've ever had. It was a classic Maine Lobster Roll. There was a generous portion of Atlantic tail and claw lobster meat mixed with a little celery, green onion, and just enough mayo, to tie it all together, stuffed into a warm, buttery, split top bun.
I wasn't a fan of the slaw, which includes pineapple and jalapeño. I would've preferred more traditional version. I also got a cup of Razor Clam Chowder. It's not my favorite version of chowder, but I'm glad I tried it.
I look forward to returning and trying more menu items.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
