Service Description
GO Transit provides free, on‑base transportation across Joint Base Lewis‑McChord for anyone who already has access to the installation. The shuttle operates as a stop‑to‑stop, on‑demand service, so you request a ride and are picked up at the nearest designated GO Transit location instead of flagging a bus on a fixed route. This makes it especially useful for getting between housing areas, work centers, Madigan, the Commissary/Exchange, and other key facilities without moving your car or hunting for parking.
Shuttles run weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., giving coverage through the core duty day and typical errand hours. Riders with valid base access—including service members, families, DOD civilians, contractors, and retirees—can use the service at no charge.
Because the system is ride‑share based, a single GO Transit vehicle may pick up several riders from different stops who are headed to the same or nearby destinations. The app and dispatch system keep estimated pickup and drop‑off times updated as the route adjusts to accommodate additional riders.
How to Schedule a Ride
You have two ways to request a GO Transit shuttle:
1. TransLoc Mobile App (Recommended)
1. Download the “TransLoc” app to your smartphone.
2. Create your account/profile and select the JBLM/GO Transit service.
3. Use the app to request a ride from your current location to your destination; the app will assign the nearest pickup point.
4. Once your ride is created, you can **track the shuttle in real time** on the map and see your updated pickup and drop‑off times.
The app is ideal if you use GO Transit regularly or want to see where your shuttle is and how soon it will arrive.
Call Dispatch
Phone: 253‑477‑3717
If you do not have a smartphone or prefer to speak to someone, call GO Transit dispatch directly. Provide your current location (nearest building or known pickup point), where you need to go, and how many riders are with you. Dispatch will create the ride, provide an estimated pickup time, and assign the shuttle.
What to Expect During Your Ride
- GO Transit operates as a shared shuttle : if other riders are heading to the same general area, the driver may stop to pick them up along the way.
- Your **pickup and drop‑off estimates may update** as additional passengers are added, but the system keeps you informed through the TransLoc app or dispatch.
- Shuttles use designated GO Transit stops around base; you’ll be directed to the closest one when your ride is scheduled.
- Standard shuttle vans are used; an ADA‑compliant vehicle is planned for riders who need wheelchair access. If you have mobility needs, mention this when calling dispatch so they can advise you on current options.
