Secure Gateways Operations Supervisor
(IT Application Development – Senior Specialist)

About the division:
Secure Gateway Services (SGS) is within the Computing Services Division (CSD) at WaTech. SGS manages and operates statewide shared security infrastructure and provides a secure web-enabled government by providing access to state services through proxy servers, enterprise secure file transfer services, and authentication systems. These services were established to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.

About the opportunity:
As the Secure Gateways Operations Supervisor, you will provide operational oversight of Secure Gateway Security Services and employees. In this role, you will promote and track operational excellence across WaTech's Secure Access Washington authentication portal, the Internal Certificate Authority, and Web Services Gateway.
Duties

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Ensure continuity of operations, prompt response to all service issues and concerns, and timely communication of issues and incidents.
  • Provide ongoing development and operations of the Secure Gateway Services core systems.
  • Evaluate existing secure gateway application functionality and features to make recommendations of highest impact changes and enhancements to SecureAccess Washington.
  • Facilitate, organize, and perform quality assurance measures for software builds.
  • Assist customers in analysis and troubleshooting of agency application integration problems.
  • Advise management on database/application design and enhancements.
  • Assist customers in ticket resolution after problem escalation or personnel escalation is required.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules for modifications, enhancements, and upgrades to the Secure Gateway applications

Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • A Bachelor's degree in information technology or related program AND five years of hands-on experience in administrating, troubleshooting analyzing shared security infrastructure including proxy servers, firewalls, denial of service protection, intrusion detection & prevention, and authentication systems
*Additional years of education or experience may be substituted for the degree*
  • Advanced knowledge of security tools, trends, technology vulnerabilities, security threats, tactics for attack, security best practices, etc.

Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:
  • Two or more years of experience of lead project management or supervisory work.
  • Experience with a large, high volume 24x7 customer or service provider network.
  • CCNA, GIAC, CISSP or comparable certifications.
  • Prior experience with:
    • System engineering, design, and architectures.
    • Integrating with / operation of SIEM with high traffic web applications.
    • Log aggregation and indexing tools.
