A typical day as a Security Officer includes:

  • Utilizing technology to identify and record suspicious activity
  • Interfacing with clients and the public in a professional capacity
  • Diligently completing site-specific tasks to include writing reports, foot/vehicle patrols, traffic control, alarm response, and other additional duties when requested
  • Inspect your surroundings to identify hazards, risks, or potential threats
  • Participate in company training and other continuing education classes to achieve your goals and advance your career

  • Must be able to pass a background check (required)
  • Good driving record (required)
  • Security Guard license is a plus (not required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 18 years or older for unarmed guard (required)
  • 21 years or older for armed guard (required)


Typical pay ranges from 16$-22$/hour depending on the level of experience and relative risk associated with the specifics of the assignment. Part-time, Full-time work is available. Benefits become available to full-time employees after a probationary period has elapsed.

Working conditions

Working conditions are site-specific and vary by assignment type but may require sitting or standing for long periods, exposure to the elements, traveling long distances, and more. When interacting with clients and the public, employing socio-economic and cultural sensitivity is critical. Security officers must have the visual acuity to observe and identify fine details that assist in crime prevention.
