Comfort and convenience
Thank you for visiting the digital home of Western Inn. We hope that you find our physical location as welcoming. We are located on the main thoroughfare of Lakewood’s International District on South Tacoma Way. You will find we are conveniently placed close to a variety of attractions, dining and main access points that will get you on your way to your next adventure. Lakewood is a uniquely diverse population and is very close to our Armed Forces’ men and women at Joint Fort Lewis-McChord Air Force Base. We are 38.9 miles from Seattle and 22.9 miles from our state capital of Olympia. There are a multitude of outdoor activities in the area that play to the strengths of what it is to reside in the Pacific Northwest area.
You can see some of your local options on our attractions page. Our hopes are that if you are new to this area it will serve as a guide. In the immediate area, you will find many dining options for Korean, Vietnamese, and Hispanic foods. Please feel free to stop by the front desk for more informational resources. We do have an area in the lobby with printed information on local and state attractions as well as “The Tacoma Weekly”, a local community paper.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Western Inn as well as our surrounding communities. The Pacific Northwest has a lot to offer.

The South Puget Sound region refers generally the to the area extending from Seattle to Olympia. The Puget Sound is the second largest estuary in the United States. In its entirety it runs from as far north as Deception Pass and south to Olympia. Lakewood is closer to the southern end right below Tacoma. It is no wonder this area is a prime destination for outdoor activities. These include camping, hiking, boating, fishing, crabbing, hiking, mountain climbing and kayaking to name a few. So go ahead and jump in!
With the South Sound's nature, adventure, arts and cultural diversity, there is always something to keep your eyes, intellect, sense of wonder and stomach occupied! There are museums worthy of exploration in Downtown Tacoma, as well as great waterfront destinations.
If the Pacific Northwest was a stage, then Mount Rainier would be its backdrop. We are 51.6 miles from Mount Rainier National Park in Ashford. Please see our attractions page for more information. .
